From September 28 to October 2, the airport carried out a major project: the new PAPIs are installed and operational.
What is the PAPI?
The PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator) is a runway edge light. It indicates to the pilots, by a set of red and white lights, if they are on the right approach slope during landing. Essential equipment for the safety and precision of approaches.
One week of work, 5 interventions
In the space of a week, several interventions were carried out:
- Installation and verification of the PAPI, whose calibration has been controlled using a gimbal to ensure precise adjustment.
- Repair of the manholes in the general aviation parking lot to restore the facilities.
- Passage of the surveyor, to validate the installations.
- Bridging work on the runway to preserve its quality.
- Moving the target points, to adapt them to the new configuration.
